Like sandcastles to the ocean waves, we cannot keep our sins from God. Lucky for us, God doesn't seek retribution. He seeks the happiness of His children. In essence, the Lord seeks our salvation. Repenting, though, is quite difficult. The steps of repentance are easier to follow if we realize that the end result will be worth it. How do we maintain this enlightened view of our time of probation and preparation?
We have to remember Christ. The sacrament prayer spoken every Sunday in LDS chapels around the world echo the same sentiments for blessing the bread and water:
O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him and keep his commandments which he has given them; that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this water to the souls of all those who drink of it, that they may do it in remembrance of the blood of thy Son, which was shed for them; that they may witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
The focus of our lives must be Jesus Christ or we will not be able to endure to the end. Our repentance process will plateau and we'll increasingly cover our sins. Darkness creeps in when light diminishes.
